Haitian artist Wilfrid Dantis, age 20, has been attending school
with the help of the Daughters of Mary Queen Immaculate at St. Marie
in Port au Prince.
This past March, Fish Farm volunteers and a camera crew had the opportunity to talk to Dantis about his paintings and dreams for the future. When Fish Farm for Haiti Director Margaret Penicaud returned home she shared her experience in Haiti with friends and neighbours.
Vineyarder Kirk Briggs, a graduate of College Lycee Cevenol International in south central France, was one of them. After learning more about Dantis and his work, Briggs and the alumni organization at Lycee Cevenol offered to sponsor the painter for a full year scholarship and living expenses.
